The mid-priced Yasei AX Swimbait/Big-bait rod is a special rod designed for ‘big bait’ specialists who prefer using very large swimbait type lures. The hybrid action has a long fast taper, which gives slightly more middle section flex. This improves lure action when using a steady retrieve, but still has the speed to add in twitches and jerks if required.
Creating the perfect large swimbait rod creates several challenges. Firstly the rod has to cast large baits a long way, so a fast action with a powerful butt is required. But because swimbaits are usually retrieved with a constant speed, in a similar way to the more common crankbait, the rod has to absorb some of the lure ‘wobble’ to smooth out the action, and this is best done with a softer rod. To get around the challenge, the Yasei AX Swimbait/Big-bait has an extended fast taper tip action, combined with a longer 2.40m length. It’s difficult to describe, but as soon as you fish with it, you’ll feel exactly what we mean. Rated to cast baits in the heavy 120-170g range, using a 300 sized baitcasting reel, or a small overhead round reel, you’ll immediately appreciate the fast tip and low-down power combination as you launch your lure. Yet as you start to retrieve you’ll feel the middle section of the rod working to absorb vibration, keeping the swimbait balanced and true. Of course, you can throw in a few twitches if you want to mix things up, as the rod has a fast enough action to make precise sharp movements.
The Yasei AX Swimbait/Big-bait is produced on a High Modulus Full Carbon blank, built using Hi-Power X technology and Nano Alloy. This reduces blank twist when casting and playing fish, which is important when playing very large fish that put a lot of curve into the rod. The lightness of the high quality materials also reduces the overall rod weight, for more enjoyable fishing, whilst retaining the required power to cope with extra large lures.
To further increase overall performance, this rod is fitted with the latest design Fuji Alconite K-type guides. In keeping with the high quality design, a super comfortable Fuji PSS reel seat is fitted onto the custom-design split grip EVA handle, giving this rod a modern, eye-catching appearance that matches its brilliant fishing performance.
